Three-time AFLW premiership club Adelaide Crows will fly to the Far North in August for a historic pre-season training camp. The Crows will spend four days in Cairns from August 14-17, where they will train at Cazalys Stadium and engage with the local community. It will be the first time an AFLW club has held a pre-season camp in the Far North. Crows coach Matthew Clarke said the club was excited to bring its AFLW program to Cairns. “We’re really looking forward to coming to Cairns and experiencing the culture and community of the Far North,” Clarke said. “We’re hoping to have a positive impact on the local community and inspire the next generation of AFLW players.” The Crows will train twice a day at Cazalys Stadium and will also hold a community clinic for local junior players. The club will also visit local schools and businesses and will participate in a cultural exchange with the local Indigenous community. Cairns Mayor Bob Manning said the city was thrilled to welcome the Adelaide Crows. “This is a great opportunity for our community to see one of the most successful AFLW clubs in the country,” Manning said. “We’re hoping that the Crows’ visit will inspire our young people to get involved in AFLW and to strive for excellence.” The Crows are one of the most successful clubs in the AFLW, having won three premierships in the past four seasons. The club is home to some of the biggest names in the AFLW, including Erin Phillips, Chelsea Randall, and Ebony Marinoff.
