The sun may have set, but the glow of the event will continue to shine brightly in the memories of all who participated.The annual Gordon Schools Sports Day took place on Saturday 18th June, with students from across the school competing in a range of track and field events. The day was a great success, with plenty of sunshine and some excellent performances from the students. The day began with the traditional March Past, led by the school’s Head Boy and Head Girl. This was followed by a series of track and field events, including sprints, hurdles, relays, and long jump. There was also a tug-of-war competition, which was won by the Year 11 team. The highlight of the day was the 100m sprint, which was won by Year 10 student, Harry Smith. Harry ran a time of 11.2 seconds, which is a new school record. Other notable performances came from Year 9 student, Emily Jones, who won the 800m in a time of 2:20.5, and Year 11 student, Tom Brown, who won the shot put with a distance of 12.45m. The day ended with a prize-giving ceremony, where the winners of each event were awarded medals. The overall winner of the Sports Day was the Red House, who won by a narrow margin of just 5 points. The Gordon Schools Sports Day was a great success, and it was a fantastic opportunity for the students to compete against each other and to celebrate their sporting achievements.
