Ronaldo Fined for Unruly On-Field BehaviorRonaldo Fined for Unruly On-Field Behavior Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the most decorated soccer players of all time, has been fined $10,000 by the English Football Association (FA) for his unruly behavior during a match between Manchester United and Everton. During the match, Ronaldo was caught on camera hitting an Everton fan with a ball after United’s 1-0 loss at Goodison Park. The victim, a 14-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries. In a statement, the FA said: “Cristiano Ronaldo has been fined £10,000 for his misconduct after the final whistle of the Premier League fixture between Manchester United FC and Everton FC on Saturday, 9 April 2023. Ronaldo admitted that his conduct was improper.” Ronaldo’s actions drew widespread condemnation, with many fans and pundits calling for him to be punished. However, United manager Erik ten Hag defended his player, saying that Ronaldo was simply “trying to get the ball back.” Despite ten Hag’s support, the FA decided to impose a fine on Ronaldo. The fine is a significant amount for the Portuguese forward, who earns around $30 million per year. In addition to the fine, Ronaldo has also been given a one-match ban. He will miss United’s next Premier League match, against Leicester City on August 20. Ronaldo’s behavior has cast a shadow over his return to Manchester United. The club had hoped that Ronaldo would help them challenge for the Premier League title, but his off-field antics have raised concerns about his commitment to the team. It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will be able to regain the trust of United fans and management. However, one thing is for sure: his unruly behavior will not be tolerated by the FA.
