Two Escape Safely from Kansas City Home Fire
Kansas City, MO – Two residents escaped safely from a house fire that broke out in Kansas City early Saturday morning. According to the Kansas City Fire Department, the fire was reported at approximately 2:30 a.m. at a home located in the 300 block of North 8th Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home. Two occupants were able to evacuate safely before firefighters arrived. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which was contained to the rear of the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The two occupants, identified as a 65-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man, were treated for smoke inhalation at a local hospital and later released. “We are grateful that these two individuals were able to escape safely,” said Kansas City Fire Chief Donna Maize. “Our firefighters did an excellent job in quickly extinguishing the fire.” Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire. Residents are advised to check their smoke detectors regularly and have an escape plan in place in case of a fire.
