Mississauga Announces Free Garden Suite Building Plans
Mississauga, ON –
The City of Mississauga has announced the launch of a new initiative to encourage the construction of garden suites in the city. The initiative, called “Garden Suites Mississauga,” will provide free building plans and other resources to help homeowners build garden suites on their properties. Garden suites are small, self-contained units that are typically built in the backyard of a single-family home. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as providing additional living space for family members, renting out to tenants, or creating a home-based business. “Garden suites are a great way to create more affordable housing options in Mississauga,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “They can also help homeowners generate additional income, and they can provide much-needed space for growing families.” The “Garden Suites Mississauga” initiative includes: * Free building plans for a variety of garden suite designs * A list of pre-approved contractors who can build garden suites * Information on financing options for garden suite construction * A guide to the city’s zoning regulations for garden suites Homeowners who are interested in building a garden suite can visit the “Garden Suites Mississauga” website or call the city’s Planning and Building Department at 905-615-3200. The “Garden Suites Mississauga” initiative is part of the city’s larger plan to create more affordable housing in the city. The city has also recently implemented a number of other initiatives, such as the “Missing Middle Housing Strategy” and the “Affordable Housing Innovation Fund.” “We are committed to making Mississauga a more affordable place to live,” said Mayor Crombie. “The ‘Garden Suites Mississauga’ initiative is just one of the many ways we are working to achieve that goal.”
