Exploration Place Shares Drawing of Future Water Playground
WICHITA, Kansas (September 15, 2023) – Exploration Place, Wichita’s science center, has released a drawing of the future water playground that will be added to its campus. The playground is scheduled to open in the summer of 2024 and will be the first of its kind in the state. The drawing shows a vibrant and interactive water park featuring: * A splash pad with multiple water jets, sprays, and nozzles * A shallow wading pool for toddlers * A lazy river for floating and relaxing * A large water slide * A sprayground with misters and sprinklers * Ample seating areas for families to relax and enjoy The water playground is designed to be both educational and entertaining. It will feature interactive water experiences that teach children about science, engineering, and the importance of water conservation. “We’re excited to add this new attraction to Exploration Place,” said Chris Crouse, Executive Director. “The water playground will provide a unique and fun way for children to learn about water while staying cool and having fun.” The water playground is part of a larger expansion project at Exploration Place. The project also includes a new planetarium, a renovated wildlife exhibit, and an expanded gift shop. The water playground is expected to attract thousands of visitors each year. Exploration Place shares drawing of future water playground
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) – Exploration Place has released a drawing of its future water playground. The new playground will be located on the museum’s west side and will feature a variety of water features for kids to enjoy. Some of the features include: * A splash pad with jets, sprays, and fountains * A lazy river * A water slide * A climbing structure with water cannons * A sand play area The water playground is expected to open in the summer of 2023, weather permitting. “We are so excited to share this drawing of our future water playground with the community,” said Exploration Place President and CEO Adam Woodworth. “This playground will be a great place for kids to cool off and have fun during the hot summer months.” The water playground is part of a larger renovation project that is taking place at Exploration Place. The museum is also adding a new planetarium, a new exhibit on the history of Kansas, and a new cafe. The total cost of the project is $25 million. The museum has raised $20 million so far and is still seeking donations to help cover the remaining costs. “We are grateful for the support of our community,” said Woodworth. “This project would not be possible without their generous donations.”
