Suspected Car Thief in Custody After Crashing Audi into Fort Lauderdale Home: BSO
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. –
A suspected car thief is in custody after crashing an Audi into a Fort Lauderdale home on Tuesday morning, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO). BSO deputies were called to the home located in the 1800 block of Northwest 34th Street just after 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a car that had crashed into the house. Upon arrival, deputies found a white Audi A4 embedded in the front wall of the home. The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Javontae James, was still inside the vehicle. James was taken into custody without incident and transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Investigators believe James stole the Audi earlier Tuesday morning from a nearby business. He then allegedly led deputies on a brief chase before crashing into the home. No one inside the home was injured in the crash. James has been charged with grand theft auto and fleeing and eluding police. He is being held at the Broward County Jail without bond. The investigation remains ongoing.

– A suspected car thief is in custody after crashing an Audi into a Fort Lauderdale home early Sunday morning, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO). BSO deputies responded to a call around 3:30 a.m. about a car crash at a home in the 3100 block of Northwest 10th Avenue. When they arrived, they found a silver Audi A4 had crashed into the front of the house. The driver of the Audi, identified as 23-year-old Jose Antonio Carbajal, was taken into custody at the scene. He is facing several charges, including grand theft auto, burglary, and criminal mischief. Investigators believe Carbajal stole the Audi from a nearby driveway. He then drove the car into the home, causing significant damage to the front of the property. No one inside the home was injured in the crash. Carbajal is being held at the Broward County Jail on a $25,000 bond. He is expected to appear in court on Monday.
