UNLV Club Hosts Space-Themed Events for Students
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Space Club is hosting a series of events for students interested in space exploration. The club will host guest speakers, field trips, and stargazing nights throughout the semester. The club’s first event will be a guest speaker presentation by Dr. Jennifer Lopez, a planetary scientist at NASA. Dr. Lopez will discuss her work on the Mars Curiosity rover and the search for life on Mars. The event will be held on Tuesday, August 29th at 7:00 pm in the Science and Engineering Building. The club will also host a field trip to the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) on Saturday, September 23rd. The NTTR is a former nuclear test site that is now used for military training and space research. The club will tour the facilities and learn about the history of nuclear testing and space exploration at the site. Finally, the club will host a stargazing night on Friday, October 27th at the Black Mountain Recreation Area. The club will provide telescopes and binoculars for attendees to use to view the night sky. The event will be held from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
