Manchester City midfielder Rhodri explained why Arsenal lost the fight with his team for the Premier League title.
The day before, Rhodri helped City defeat West Ham 3-1 with his goal and secure a fourth consecutive Premier League title.
The three previous titles did not satisfy City, and Rodri attributes this to the fact that head coach Josep Guardiola put his players in their heads.
“Why does City remain so hungry for success? To be honest, I think it’s here (pointing to the head). It’s a mindset.”
“There are great players all over the league, all over the clubs. Arsenal deserved the title too, they had an incredible season, but I think the difference was here (points to the head).”
“When they came here to play against us at the Etihad, I looked at them and thought, ‘Oh, these guys don’t want to beat us, they just want a draw.’
“It’s a matter of thinking. I don’t think we would have done the same in their place.”
“And then we caught up with them. At the end of the day, if you give us one point, we’ll win the last seven, eight matches, even though it’s hard. I think we won the title thanks to our thinking,” Rhodri told Optus Sport.
