Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that his team may have to score 100 points to win the Premier League title next season.
Having suffered only one defeat in the Premier League in 2024, Arsenal finished this season with 89 points, but it was not enough to win their first title since 2004.
As Josep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City from 2016 to 2019, Arteta knows perfectly well what efforts the Gunners may need to get ahead of the Citizens.
“Yes, we may need to score 100 points to win the title. I was there when we scored 100 points, so I know what it takes. I know what happened, and that’s the level.”
“No one needs to explain to me what this level is, because I spent four years there, working every day, and I know what we need to do to reach this level. Not just for one season, but for all the others. However, we are on the right track.”
“We are on the right trajectory, and now we really need to get our teeth into this, because we want more,” Arteta is quoted by the Daily Mail.
