Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has admitted that he is looking forward to the opportunity to play the final match of the season while still having a chance at the Premier League title.
Arteta already has the experience of winning the title on the final day of the season — Mikel did it as an assistant to Josep Guardiola at Manchester City in 2019, when the Citizens defeated Brighton 1-4. 12 months earlier, Mikel also celebrated the Premier League championship.
This time Arteta has the opportunity to win the Premier League as a head coach. And although this requires City to misfire in a parallel match, the fact that the intrigue is still alive inspires Mikel.
“This is a wonderful moment, considering all the unpredictability. It’s like a drug. You’re still in the race, you still have to earn it, you want it so badly, and there are a lot of factors that can change things very quickly, but when you do it, it’s phenomenal.”
“Undoubtedly, this will be one of the best days of my life in terms of sports. It’s a big dream that I didn’t manage to fulfill as a player, and it’s a dream that I have as a head coach. If we do this with the people who work here every day, it will be another event,” Arteta is quoted as saying by The Guardian.
