In the absence of official confirmation, Arne Slot from Feyenoord independently announced that he would replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool head coach.
Klopp has been coaching Liverpool since October 2015, but Jurgen ends his career at the Merseyside club with a home match against Wolverhampton next Sunday.
Back in April, it became known that the search for a successor for Klopp had led Liverpool to a Slot. The Reds have already agreed with Feyenoord compensation for the 45-year-old Dutchman in the amount of 9.4 million pounds.
“I can confirm that I will become Liverpool coach from next season.”
“I haven’t thought about it until now because I was busy preparing for my last match, but now I can start. At the beginning of the week, you only think about the training process and all that.”
“But now this feeling is getting stronger. That’s why I was late for the press conference -I wanted to personally say goodbye to some people and spend time with them, not just shake hands.”
“I understand that good results help, but it’s very nice to feel that people regret my departure,” the BBC quoted Slot as saying.
Arne has been coaching Feyenoord since December 2020, having won the Eredivisie title in the 2022/23 season. In this campaign, Arne won the Dutch Cup.
Slot ends his career at Feyenoord with a home match against Excelsior next Sunday.
