The best scorer in the history of Manchester United, Wayne Rooney, suggested that his former club disperse all the players, with the exception of captain Bruno Fernandes and the youth.
United are approaching the final round of the Premier League, taking only eighth place in the table. The Red Devils are seriously at risk of not getting into European competitions next season.
Fernandes stands out favorably against his teammates, who is United’s best player this Premier League season in goals (10) and assists (7).
According to Rooney, only Fernandes and young players like Cobby Mainu and Alejandro Garnacho deserve to stay at United.
“You have to build a team around Bruno. This player has skill. He has a fighting spirit. I think we need to keep the young players and Bruna, but otherwise we need a huge purge. It won’t take one year, it will take the next couple of years.”
“To compete in this league, you need better players. Don’t get me wrong, they have good players, Premier League level players. But to compete with Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, you need better players,” Rooney told Sky Sports.
