The Manchester City goalkeeper will miss the match of the final round of the Premier League and the FA Cup final due to a fractured eye socket.
Ederson was substituted in the 69th minute of City’s victorious Premier League match against Tottenham last Tuesday (0:2).
Ederson temporarily lost consciousness after a collision with Spurs defender Christian Romero. The 30-year-old Brazilian even tried to continue the game, but was forced to give up his place on the field to Stefan Ortega.
Now, after being diagnosed with a fracture in Ederson, it is Ortega who will defend the gates of City against West Ham at home next Sunday and against Manchester United at Wembley on May 25.
As the BBC reminds, Ortega has played all City’s matches in the FA Cup and League Cup in the last two seasons, so Stefan would have played against United next week with a high probability, even if Ederson had been available.
