Chelsea will receive a 5 million pound bonus from Real Madrid for playmaker Eden Hazard, although he has already completed his playing career.
In 2019, Chelsea sold Hazard, who was at the peak of his career, to Real Madrid in a deal worth 130 million pounds, including over 40 million pounds in bonuses.
From that moment on, Hazard’s career went downhill, and last summer Eden and Real Madrid agreed on an early termination of the contract. And in October, the player, tormented by injuries, announced that he was hanging his boots on a nail.
However, Real Madrid still had obligations to Chelsea, and Carlo Ancelotti’s team’s exit to the Champions League final provided the Blues with another bonus.
According to The Telegraph, we are talking about 5 million pounds. This is not such a large amount, but it will still help Chelsea comply with the rules of the financial fair play of the Premier League.
Let’s add that Hazard spent seven years at Chelsea, scoring 110 goals in 352 matches. With the Blues, Eden has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and two Europa Leagues.
