Brighton head coach Roberto De Derbi has revealed that his club tried to buy winger Cole Palmer from Chelsea.
On the final day of the summer transfer window, Chelsea acquired Palmer from Manchester City for 42.5 million pounds, and since then Cole has scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists for the Blues in the Premier League.
At that time, Chelsea was not the only contender for Palmer. It is reliably known about the interest in Cole from West Ham. It turns out that the 22-year-old Englishman was also wanted by Brighton, who will play against the Blues on Wednesday evening.
“We tried to get him in the last summer transfer window. We thought he could become a top-level player.”
“Palmer’s qualities are obvious to everyone, but not when he was playing for Manchester City. He’s playing very well this season, he’s scoring a lot of goals,” De Jerby was quoted as saying by the BBC.
