Manchester United have officially confirmed their separation from defender Raphael Varane at the end of the season.
Varane played for United after his transfer from Real Madrid for 42 million pounds in 2021. In three seasons at Old Trafford, Rafael played 93 matches, winning the League Cup with the Red Devils in 2023.
The current coach of United, Eric Ten Hag, could not fully rely on Varane due to the increased propensity of the ward to injuries, and a few months ago it became known that the red devils were not going to offer the 31-year-old Frenchman a new contract or use their option to extend for 12 months.
Thus, Varane will leave United as a free agent and, at the very least, significantly ease the Devils’ payroll.
We should add that Varane is injured again at the moment, having been absent since the 4-3 defeat by Chelsea on April 4, however, Rafael is working on recovery and still hopes to try on a United shirt one last time.
