Arsenal legend Paul Merson has promised to get a tattoo if Manchester United finish higher than the Gunners next Premier League season.
Arsenal won 0-1 at United on Sunday, bringing the distance between these two teams in the Premier League table to an obscene 32 points.
Given this gap, Merson is convinced that United will be behind Arsenal again next season, even if injuries sideline the Red Devils.
“It was a shock. They (United) made 145 touches in the far third of the field and hit two shots on target. Two shots on target, including one from Casemiro from 40 meters, which I would have deflected, so it’s not good enough. This is Manchester United — you can’t lose nine games at home.”
Chelsea will finish above them anyway, Newcastle will come here and win. I don’t care how many of their players come back next season, there’s no way they’re going to finish above Arsenal next season. No chance — otherwise I’ll get a tattoo.”
“They won’t do that. No chance. They are 30 points behind. They will have these small phases of four or five wins in a row, but then everything will go back to normal,” Merson said on Sky Sports.
