Manchester United coxswain Eric Ten Hag explained with injuries why his team is losing so much and missing so much this season.
The 0-1 defeat by Arsenal at home the day before was United’s 14th this Premier League season. The Red Devils occupy only the eighth place in the table, having a negative goal difference.
Ten Hag has no complaints about his players’ attitude, believing that the team managed to improve after the 4-0 defeat by Crystal Palace last Monday. And Eric blames another negative result on an acute personnel shortage.
“We are not ashamed to face our fans. We definitely couldn’t face them on Monday, but you could see that the fans were supporting us today. We had to thank them. This should be the standard.”
“Attitude. It always starts with the right attitude. This is what we’ve been working on for a week. On the day of the match, you have to be completely focused.”
“Today we showed the attitude. Even missing 10 players from the starting line-up, we forced the fight on one of the best teams in the league.”
“When you don’t have the right attitude, when you don’t have the right pressure, it makes life easier for any opponent.”
“For a United player, every match is a final. You have to play to win every match. You have to be aware of that.”
“The fans understand our situation. When you have so many injuries, especially in key areas, you don’t get what you deserve.”
“The fans support us, and that’s why they’re with us. We are United. We have a strong bond, and I hope we can repay them in the future.”
“We have problems, and problems cost us results. If your players are in formation, you score more points. This is especially true for the defensive line, because we allow our opponents to create a lot of chances and score a lot of goals. Last season, we had the most clinchings in the Premier League,” Ten Haga was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
