Manchester United coxswain Eric Ten Hag expressed confidence that he retains control of his team.
When United suffered a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last Monday, it might have seemed that the team had stopped obeying Ten Haga and did not want to fight for their coach.
However, Ten Hag considers this trip to Selhurst Park an exception, because in all other matches the United players had an order with attitude and dedication.
“If you look at all the problems we faced and all the injuries we had, then in almost every match the players still fought.”
“We have a great team spirit — but not on Monday night, when I was upset. I was really upset, and the players were upset with themselves. This is a collective failure.”
“But in all the other matches we fought for each other, demonstrating a good team spirit, and I have no doubt about that. The players are fighting and there is a good team spirit here. I think the fans can see that.”
“They saw how we fought against Brentford. We didn’t play well, but we fought and we stayed in the game. We had a great match against Chelsea, playing very good football and fighting.”
“Against Liverpool, we had to adapt because Raphael (Varane) and Johnny (Evans) were out with injuries, but we fought and achieved a very good result.”
“They always gave battle. Against Coventry, until the 70th minute. Then against Sheffield United. They showed resilience. Against Burnley, in our third match in six days, we put in a lot of effort.”
“It’s incredible what physical dedication the players showed in these matches,” Ten Haga was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
