Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed hope that Manchester United would give his colleague Eric Ten Hag time.
Ahead of the home match against Arsenal on Sunday, Ten Hag is under enormous pressure, and the tabloid press is speculating that even winning the FA Cup final may not save Eric from being fired.
However, Arteta hopes that Ten Hag will keep his job. Mikel knows from his own experience that the club’s patience with its mentor can be rewarded.
“I can only say that I think of him as a coach. He’s an excellent coach. I admire his teams — both Ajax and United.
“I know what he’s trying to do. I know how he tries to do it. I know how difficult it is to prepare for matches against him, so I have great respect for him.”
“Yes, I hope he gets time, because we are colleagues, and we know how difficult it can be in this league — everything is determined by the details here. I hope it will be like that, because I think he is an excellent coach.”
“If you want to win the Premier League and big trophies, you have to come to stadiums like this, express yourself and beat them. This is our challenge, and I am sure we will try to achieve this on Sunday,” Sky Sports quoted Arteta as saying.
