Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou has promised that he will not give Manchester City any favours in the Premier League match next Tuesday.
At the moment, City are one point behind Arsenal, who are leading in the Premier League, but have one match left, which will be the trip to Tottenham next Tuesday.
By taking points away from City, Tottenham can regain the initiative in the championship race to their neighbors from Arsenal, while Spurs themselves are highly likely not to even get into the Champions League.
Despite the complexity of his situation, Postecoglou is not going to take his foot off the gas pedal and wants to finish the season as well as possible.
“I’m fighting tooth and nail here every day for everything I can provide for this football club, because it’s my responsibility. I would not abstain from any case, even the most hopeless, because otherwise I would shirk my duties. I want us to finish the season strongly. I want us to try to win these three football matches, and then we’ll see where it leads us.”
“Do four defeats in a row mean that Tottenham have stopped playing? It’s a harsh term. Does this mean that I come here at 12 o’clock, grab a latte, go home and just let the players practice? I’m not giving up anything.”
“I never said that I don’t care if we get into the top 4. I was just saying that getting into the top 4 won’t mean that we’ve become the team I want us to be next year. That’s not what defines us. I do not give up, and I would be surprised if anyone in my place showed dedication less than 100 percent, because otherwise you will inevitably fail,” Postecoglou is quoted by The Telegraph.
