Newcastle have interviewed Dougie Friedman and Johannes Spurs for the role of sports director.
Newcastle have been in search of a new sporting director since February, when Dan Ashworth, who still holds the position, was suspended and placed on paid leave.
According to Sky Sports, Newcastle conducted thorough research and talked with a number of candidates, eventually settling on two: Friedman and Spurs.
Friedman has been working as the sports director of Crystal Palace in recent years, while Spurs holds the post of global sports director at the 777 Group, which is trying to buy Everton and already owns shares in a number of other clubs.
The ode to the favorite was interviewed at Newcastle, and soon the club with St. James’ Park will have to make its choice.
At the moment, Friedman is slightly ahead of Spurs, but Newcastle appreciates the 41-year-old German’s experience in the European market.
