Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery called the trip to Olympiacos in the Conference League semi-finals “the most important match of the season” for his team.
A week ago, Villa unexpectedly lost to Olympiacos at home with a score of 4:2. With a two-goal deficit, Emery’s wards went to Greece.
Emery understands how difficult it will be for his team to reach the final of the third most important club tournament in Europe, but he still wants to try.
“We have to play much better. It’s going to be difficult, given the atmosphere there.”
“We need to create this new experience with our players and our idea of football. This is the most important match of the season.”
“Maybe we were the favorite before the first match, but with their energy they showed that they want to be a contender for victory, and now they are the favorite. I will prepare us to win back, but it will not change the process we are in.”
“We are having a great season in the Premier League. We should enjoy both competitions. We should be proud of our work,” the BBC quoted Emery as saying.
