Winger Fabio Carvalho admitted that his Liverpool teammates were surprised by the distrust of him from head coach Jurgen Klopp.
Carvalho started his career quite brightly at Liverpool, where he moved after the expiration of his contract with Fulham in the summer of 2022.
Already in October 2022, Carvalho played his 12th match for Liverpool, but then Fabio began to appear extremely rarely on the field, and for this season he went on loan at all – first to RB Leipzig, and then to Hull.
The 21-year-old Portuguese admits that he talked about his situation with Klopp and tried his best in training, but it did not help him increase the number of playing minutes.
“Yes, I talked to him (Klopp). I didn’t talk that much, to be honest. Maybe I should have talked a little more.”
“But I was talking. He just said, “Be patient. You’re training well, your chance will come.”
“And I thought that I was really training well — to the point that some players were asking me: “What’s going on? Why aren’t you playing?”
“Such things. But yes, I saw him, and he said: “Just be patient, keep practicing, and your chance will come.” I couldn’t ask for more.”
“He was honest with me, he pointed out to me some things that I could do and that I could improve on, and I was just trying to apply that in training,” Carvalho told the Liverpool Echo.
