Newcastle have narrowed their shortlist to replace sporting director Dan Ashworth to two names.
Recall that Ashworth was suspended by Newcastle in February and transferred to paid leave. The Magpies reacted this way when Dan asked to be released to Manchester United.
Many directors have been linked with Ashworth’s arrival, but talkSPORT claims that there are two left on the Newcastle shortlist: an unnamed specialist from abroad and Dougie Freedman from Crystal Palace.
It is noteworthy that United is also interested in Friedman — in case it is not possible to agree on compensation for Ashworth.
Friedman has achieved significant success as Palace’s sporting director, bringing players like Mark Gehi, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise to the club.
The source adds that Newcastle hopes to make the appointment before the summer transfer window opens.
