In the match between Crystal Palace and Manchester United on Monday evening, the Premier League referee will wear a video camera for the first time.
According to the BBC, Australian referee Jarred Gillett, who was entrusted to serve the match at Selhurst Park, will receive a special device called “RefCam”.
We are talking about a camera with a microphone, which is fixed on the head and conducts audio and video recording. The device is integrated into the communication system of the judicial team.
Footage from the referee’s camera will not be used in the live broadcast — the Premier League promises to release a separate program in which it will talk about the work of its referees.
