Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he has not given midfielder Harvey Elliott enough time to play this season.
Elliott, 21, played a key role in Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Tottenham on Sunday, scoring a sumptuous goal and giving an assist to Cody Gakpo.
This was only Elliott’s ninth appearance in Liverpool’s starting line-up this Premier League season, but Klopp expects further progress from Harvey, which he will be watching from the sidelines.
“Oh, yes, I’ll be watching his further development from the sidelines. Has Harvey Elliott played enough this season? I’m not sure. It’s because of me. But in these kinds of moments, he shows himself in an outstanding way. He has to dominate, as he did today.”
“A great player, and what a goal he scored. I love it. I will definitely follow him and enjoy his success,” Klopp was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
