Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted that his team experienced discomfort at the end of the Premier League match against Tottenham.
On Sunday, Liverpool won 4-2 over Tottenham, depriving Spurs of a real chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
Having made the score 4-0 in the first hour of the match, then Liverpool relaxed, for which they were punished with two conceded goals. Klopp understands where Tottenham’s zeal came from.
“I really liked the way the guys played. I liked the individual actions of the players, their team play. There were so many good things.”
“It was a really good football match, and I think that’s what everyone should expect from us — as well as the results. Today we have provided both.”
“Did I expect us to lead 4-0? No. Did I expect that we would lead 4-2, and Ali (Alisson) would have to make two world-class saves in order not to miss more? No.”
“But if you think about it, it didn’t look unlikely before the match — if Tottenham had won, they would have been fully back in the fight to qualify for the Champions League.”
“It means a lot to us that we are in third place. It probably can’t be changed now, either way.”
“You saw that Tottenham is Tottenham. They are good, and when you let them do what they do, they are especially good,” Klopp was quoted as saying by The Independent.
