Мейсон Гринвуд Manchester United are in talks with Getafe about extending the Spanish club’s lease on striker Mason Greenwood for next season.

On the final day of the summer transfer window, United sent Greenwood on loan to Getafe, where the 22-year-old Englishman settled in very well, scoring 10 goals and giving six assists.

Getafe are very happy with Greenwood and want to keep him, but the Spanish club cannot afford a permanent transfer.

Despite the fact that United have agreed to discuss a new lease deal with Getafe, the priority for the Red Devils remains the sale of Mason.

According to The Athletic, United will allow Getafe to extend Greenwood’s lease for the 2024/25 season only if they do not find a buyer for Mason at an acceptable price.

If Greenwood is sold next summer, then United will have to share 20 percent of the deal value with Getafe. This is the “commission” of the La Liga club to return the player to form after the scandal of the rape and beating of his girlfriend.

The option of Greenwood being reintegrated into the United first team cannot be ruled out, but is unlikely.
