Alexander Isak from Newcastle is at the head of Arsenal’s shortlist to strengthen the striker’s position.
Isak has established himself as a key player for Newcastle after his transfer from Real Sociedad for 63 million pounds in 2022. Alexander is especially good this season, scoring 23 goals in 36 matches.
Newcastle want to keep Isak and are even ready to offer the 24-year-old Swede a new contract on improved terms, however, there are two factors that can push the Magpies to sell their scorer.
Firstly, Newcastle is under pressure from financial fair play rules. The Magpies still need to sell someone to avoid sanctions from the Premier League.
Secondly, a lot will depend on Isak himself and how much his ambitions coincide with those of Newcastle.
According to The Independent, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta appreciates Isak very much, but does not want this to turn into a saga for the whole summer — the Gunners need to quickly understand whether this transfer is possible, otherwise they will switch to alternative goals.
