UEFA has confirmed that the England national team, like the rest of the Euro 2024 participants, will be able to declare 26 players for the tournament in Germany next summer.
The relevant decision was approved by the UEFA Executive Committee after a vote in April.
Thus, each of the 24 national teams participating in the European Championship will be able to declare three additional players.
Earlier, the head coach of the English national team, Gareth Southgate, said that if this decision is made, he will be able to afford to take risks with some players — for example, returning to the ranks after injuries or those who do not have experience playing at international level.
According to the BBC, Southgate is going to announce the British bid for the tournament on May 21 — two days after the end of the Premier League season.
For England, Euro 2024 starts with a match against Serbia on June 16. Southgate’s players will also play Denmark and Slovenia in the group stage.
