Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has lashed out at TNT Sports.
Since Klopp’s appointment in 2015, Liverpool have had to play at 12:30 on a Saturday more often than any other Premier League team.
Another such match was a 2-2 draw with West Ham last weekend, and Klopp threatens that he will never turn on TNT on his TV again.
“The other day I was talking to colleagues from my “favorite” TNT TV channel, which I definitely won’t watch anymore, and every time it comes down to the same thing: “They (TV channels) pay you, they give money to football.” But this is not the case, I see it the other way around. It’s football that pays them.”
“It’s not like TNT or Sky are not doing well. They should become a football partner again, and not squeeze all the juices out.”
“A few years ago, we had four English teams in the quarterfinals of European tournaments, and we talked: “It speaks to the level of the Premier League.” Let’s bring it back, but for that they need to change their approach.”
“When I talk about it, you always think it’s because of our midday match situation, but it’s a common problem.”
“They dared to put us on the schedule Thursday-Sunday-Saturday 12:30 — this is a crime! I can’t wait for Amnesty International to investigate them,” Klopp was quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
