An Audi with suspected cloned number plates was stopped on Marton Road in Middlesbrough, leading to the arrest of an individual suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.
According to Cleveland Police, the vehicle was sighted by officers on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at approximately 11:30 PM. Upon further inspection, they discovered that the license plates did not match the Audi’s registration. Officers promptly apprehended the driver, a 27-year-old man, and conducted a roadside drug test. The result of the test indicated that he was allegedly under the influence of an illegal substance. The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug driving and taken into custody. The Audi was seized for further examination. Detective Inspector Matt Murphy of Cleveland Police praised the efforts of the officers involved in the stop and arrest. He stated: “This is a great example of proactive policing by our officers, who have taken another dangerous driver off the roads.
