Erie, PA – Cathedral Preparatory School football star, Donovan Walker, has etched his name into the Erie County record books after a remarkable season that saw him shatter numerous historical records. Walker, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound senior running back, emerged as one of the most dominant players in Pennsylvania this year. In just 10 games, he amassed an astonishing 2,575 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns. These numbers not only broke the Erie County single-season rushing record but also catapulted Walker to the top spot in the state. Walker’s remarkable season was highlighted by several standout performances, including a 419-yard, 6-touchdown game against Mercyhurst Prep. In addition to his rushing accomplishments, Walker also made an impact as a receiver, recording 17 receptions for 349 yards and 5 touchdowns. His versatility and athleticism made him a nightmare for opposing defenses. “Donovan is a special player,” said Cathedral Prep head coach Mike Mischler. “His speed, power, and ability to make defenders miss are unmatched. Erie, PA – Cathedral Preparatory School football star Cole Walker has etched his name into the Erie County record books, becoming the county’s all-time leading rusher and scorer. The senior running back rushed for 2,425 yards and 36 touchdowns during the 2022 season, breaking the previous county records held by McDowell’s Mike Seamon and Cathedral Prep’s Nick D’Innocenzo, respectively. Walker’s record-breaking performance helped lead Cathedral Prep to an undefeated regular season and a berth in the PIAA Class 5A state championship game. He finished his high school career with 5,036 rushing yards and 78 touchdowns, both Erie County records. In addition to his rushing accomplishments, Walker also set county records for most points in a game (42), most touchdowns in a game (6), and most points in a season (216).
