Obituary of Helen Sclafani – West Norriton Twp., PA (1920-2017)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Sclafani, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Helen passed away peacefully on January 17, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania on June 16, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Marie (Siriani) DiCola. Helen graduated from Norristown High School and went on to work as a seamstress in the local garment industry. In 1942, Helen married the love of her life, Michael Sclafani. Together, they raised two daughters in West Norriton Township, Pennsylvania. Helen devoted her life to her family and was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. Helen was an exceptional cook and baker. Her family and friends always looked forward to her delicious meals and homemade desserts. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time tending to her flowers and vegetables. Helen had a deep love for her Italian heritage. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania. Helen also enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her extended family. Helen is survived by her two daughters, Rosemarie Sclafani of West Norriton Township and Marie Sclafani of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Jennifer Sclafani of Columbus, Ohio and Lauren Sclafani of West Norriton Township; and one great-grandson, Liam. Helen’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Springhouse Estates Retirement Community for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Helen during her final days. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to St. Philip Neri Church. Helen Sclafani was a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be cherished.

Helen Sclafani (nee Dalton), age 97, passed away on August 11, 2017, at the Meadowood Senior Living Center in Worcester, PA. Helen was born on August 2, 1920, in Norristown, PA, to the late James and Margaret (nee McLaughlin) Dalton. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Sclafani, Sr. for 64 years. Helen was a loving mother to her four children: son Anthony Sclafani, Jr. (Carmela) of Eagleville, PA; daughter Margaret Dillon (late Thomas) of West Norriton, PA; son John Sclafani (Mary) of Blue Bell, PA; and daughter Maryann Sclafani of West Norriton, PA. She was also the cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Helen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 600 Hamilton Street, Norristown, PA 19401. Interment will follow at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, East Norriton, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s name to Saint Francis of Assisi Church at the above address.
