Livingston County Woman Accused of Speeding, Drug Use, and Driving Without License or Insurance

MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. – A Livingston County woman faces multiple charges after a high-speed chase and subsequent crash. On Friday, October 21, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle speeding on Route 36 in the Town of Mount Morris. The vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Krystal M. Smith of Dansville, reportedly reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour and failed to stop for several traffic signals. During the chase, deputies observed Smith driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic and running other vehicles off the road. She eventually lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch on Lakeville Road in the Town of Avon. Smith and her two passengers were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation. They were not seriously injured. Deputies subsequently charged Smith with the following offenses: * Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) – Drugs (Felony) * Driving without a license (Unclassified Misdemeanor) * Speeding (Infraction) * Failure to Stop for a Stop Sign (Infraction) * Reckless Driving (Infraction) * Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle (Infraction) * Lack of Insurance (Infraction) Smith was arraigned in Avon Town Court and remanded to the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. She is scheduled to reappear in court on October 24, 2022. The investigation is ongoing.

Livingston County Woman Accused of Driving Under the Influence of Drugs Without License and Insurance During a High-Speed Chase

A Livingston County woman has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase while under the influence of drugs and without a valid license or insurance. According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle for speeding on I-96 near Fowlerville. The suspect initially stopped but then sped away as deputies approached the vehicle. Deputies pursued the vehicle, which reached speeds of over 100 mph. During the chase, the suspect allegedly swerved in and out of traffic and ran multiple red lights. The chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a ditch near the intersection of M-59 and Burkhart Road. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. The suspect, a 32-year-old woman from Fowlerville, was charged with: * Fleeing and eluding police (felony) * Operating under the influence of drugs (OUID) (felony) * Operating without a valid driver’s license (felony) * Operating without insurance (felony) * Reckless driving (misdemeanor) The suspect is currently being held in the Livingston County Jail on a $50,000 bond. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. No further information is available at this time.
