This weekend, the city of Binghamton, New York, will be bustling with excitement as two beloved summer events make their grand return: St. Anthony’s Holidays and Pride Palooza.
St. Anthony’s Holidays
For over a century, St. Anthony’s Holidays has been a cultural and religious cornerstone in Binghamton. This year, the festival will take place on Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23, in the heart of the city’s Italian neighborhood, known as the First Ward. Highlights of the festival include: * A religious procession at 10:00 AM on Saturday from St. Anthony of Padua Church to the East Side Park. * A giant meatball contest featuring local restaurants on Saturday at 4:00 PM. * A spectacular fireworks display on Saturday at 9:30 PM over the Susquehanna River.
Pride Palooza
Coinciding with St. Anthony’s Holidays, Pride Palooza will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in Binghamton. This year, the festival will take place on Sunday, July 24, at the Susquehanna Riverwalk in the heart of downtown. Pride Palooza will feature live music by local and national LGBTQ+ performers, drag performances, vendors, and resources for the LGBTQ+ community. The event will also include a Pride march at 12:00 PM from the Broome County Courthouse to the festival site. Highlights of Pride Palooza include: * Performances by drag queen icons Bianca Del Rio and Trixie Mattel. * Food and beverages from local vendors. * A family-friendly zone with activities for children.
