Police Officer and Cafe Driver Save Kitten from Busy Highway, He Has Now Been Adopted

In a heartwarming turn of events, a police officer and a cafe driver in New Jersey teamed up to save a frightened kitten from a busy highway, and the kitten has now found a loving home. On Tuesday afternoon, Officer Brian K. Diaz of the East Rutherford Police Department was flagged down by a driver who reported seeing a tiny kitten on the shoulder of Route 3. Officer Diaz quickly responded to the location and found the kitten huddled in the grass, clearly scared and disoriented. As Officer Diaz approached the kitten, he realized that it was too frightened to move. He gently picked up the kitten and wrapped it in his uniform shirt to comfort it. Meanwhile, a cafe driver who had witnessed the rescue from a nearby cafe, came over to assist. He provided a box lined with towels for the kitten to rest in. Together, Officer Diaz and the cafe driver transported the kitten to the East Rutherford Police Department, where he was given food, water, and a warm place to stay. The East Rutherford Police Department put out a call on social media asking for help finding the kitten’s owner. However, after several hours, no one came forward to claim him. On Wednesday morning, Officer Diaz took the kitten to a local animal shelter, where he was examined by a veterinarian. The veterinarian determined that the kitten was about 8 weeks old and in good health. The shelter staff put the kitten up for adoption, and within hours, he had found a loving home with a family from nearby Lyndhurst. The family named the kitten “Lucky” in honor of his lucky escape from the highway. Lucky is now settling into his new home and enjoying all the love and attention he deserves. Officer Diaz said he was grateful to the cafe driver for his assistance in saving the kitten. “It was a great feeling to know that we were able to help this little guy,” he said. “I’m glad he found a good home where he will be loved and cared for.”
