If they do not, the prize money will be returned to the Illinois Lottery. The Illinois Lottery encourages the winner to check their tickets carefully and to come forward as soon as possible to claim their prize. “We want to make sure that the rightful winner gets their money,” said Illinois Lottery spokesperson Susan Witcher. “We’re hoping that the winner will come forward soon so that they can start enjoying their winnings.” Lottery officials say that the winner should sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place. They can then claim their prize at any Illinois Lottery claim center or by mail. If the winner does not claim their prize by the deadline, the money will be added to the Illinois Lottery’s prize pool.
