‘.DC Carjacking Suspect Charged with Murder After Passenger Dies

– A suspect in a carjacking in Southeast Washington, D.C. has been charged with murder after one of the carjacked passengers died. On Friday, October 7, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to the 2700 block of Alabama Avenue SE for a report of a carjacking. Upon arrival, officers found two adult male victims who had been carjacked. The victims told police that they were sitting in their vehicle when three suspects approached them. The suspects demanded that the victims get out of the car, and one of the suspects brandished a firearm. The victims complied and the suspects fled in the victims’ vehicle. One of the victims, a 41-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other victim, a 51-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, police arrested 21-year-old Deangelo Gibson in connection with the carjacking. Gibson has been charged with murder, carjacking, and assault with a deadly weapon. Police are still searching for the other two suspects involved in the carjacking. Victim Identified

The victim who died in the carjacking has been identified as 51-year-old Anthony Jones of Washington, D.C. Jones’ family and friends are devastated by his death and are asking for justice. “He was a loving father, a hard worker, and a great friend,” said Jones’ brother, Marlon Jones. “We want the people who did this to him to be brought to justice.”

A man accused of carjacking a vehicle in Southeast Washington, D.C., is now facing a murder charge after a passenger in the stolen car died. According to police, 22-year-old Anthony Bowden was arrested on Wednesday and charged with murder, armed carjacking, and other offenses. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in the 2300 block of Savannah Street SE. Police say Bowden allegedly approached a 32-year-old man who was sitting in his car and demanded the keys at gunpoint. The victim complied, and Bowden drove away with the car, which had two passengers inside. Shortly after the carjacking, police located the stolen vehicle in the 2700 block of Langston Place SE. When officers approached the car, they found one of the passengers, a 23-year-old man, unresponsive in the back seat. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other passenger, a 25-year-old woman, was not injured. Bowden was arrested at the scene and charged. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. The Metropolitan Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
