Steinert High School Class Gives Students a Chance to Let Their Hands Do the Learning

– A Steinert High School class is giving students a chance to learn by doing. The Woodworking and Construction class, taught by Mr. Kevin Ward, gives students the opportunity to design, build, and finish projects from start to finish. “The class is a great way for students to learn about the basics of woodworking and construction,” said Mr. Ward. “They get to use their hands and their minds to create something that they can be proud of.” Students in the class learn about the different types of wood, how to use power tools, and how to join pieces of wood together. They also learn about the different finishes that can be applied to wood and how to use them. “I’m really enjoying the class,” said senior student John Smith. “I’ve learned a lot about woodworking and construction, and I’ve made some really cool projects.” Some of the projects that students have made in the class include birdhouses, picture frames, and even a full-size picnic table. “The best part of the class is being able to see your projects come to life,” said junior student Mary Jones. “It’s really rewarding to be able to create something that you can use or give to someone else.” The Woodworking and Construction class is a popular choice for students at Steinert High School. – At Steinert High School, students in the Construction Technology program are getting hands-on experience that will prepare them for a career in the trades. “The students are learning the basics of construction, including framing, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC,” said teacher John Considine. “They are also getting experience with tools and equipment that they will use in the field.” The program is designed to give students the skills they need to be successful in the construction industry. “This program is a great way for students to learn about the construction industry and to get hands-on experience,” said Considine. “It is also a great way for students to prepare for a career in the trades.” The students in the program are excited to be learning about construction. “I love this program,” said student Anthony Gibbs. “I am learning so much and I am really enjoying the hands-on experience.” The Construction Technology program is one of many career and technical education programs offered at Steinert High School.
