Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola has said that his faith in his players will not suffer even if the Citizens miss out on the Premier League title.
At the end of the season, City are fighting in absentia with Arsenal for the Premier League title, and at the end of May they will play in the FA Cup final against Manchester United.
This title could be City’s fourth in a row, which no one has ever managed before in the history of the Premier League, but Guardiola promises to love his players even if this season ends without trophies.
“We can lose all four remaining matches, and then what? Does that mean I don’t trust my players? It’s impossible. No chance.”
“I see them and understand what they are doing. Whether we win or lose, my opinion about this season and what they have done will not change.”
“If we win these two trophies (the Premier League and the FA Cup) and then two more (the FA Super Cup and the European Super Cup), my opinion about the players and the club will be the same as if we lose.”
“Of course we want to win. We are fighting for something that no team in this country has ever been able to do. Of course, this is a big test, and we want to succeed. But my opinion? Does it depend on whether we win or not? No chance. I love them so much,” Guardiola was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
