Ex-Celtic, Chelsea, and Blackburn striker Chris Sutton slammed Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah for a heated exchange with manager Jurgen Klopp.
The incident unfolded during Liverpool’s recent Premier League draw with West Ham (2-2). While waiting to be subbed in, Salah got into an argument with Klopp. Sutton believes Salah acted inappropriately, suggesting he placed himself above the team.
“This doesn’t sit well with me,” Sutton said in a BBC interview. “In my view, Salah lost his composure here.”
“He’s not above any other Liverpool player, and let’s be honest, his form post-injury hasn’t been impressive.”
Sutton clarified, “There’s no animosity towards Salah. He’s been fantastic for Liverpool, a phenomenal performer. But there’s a line, and I think he crossed it.”
“He can’t dwell on past achievements. It’s about the present, and Klopp made the call to bench him. That’s the manager’s call. He’s the leader, and Salah doesn’t get special treatment,” concluded Sutton.
