Manchester City’s title defense suffered a major setback as their starting goalkeeper, Ederson, went down with a shoulder injury during their 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Ederson collided with Forest defender Willie Boly in the first half and was unable to continue, being replaced by Stefan Ortega. This marked Ortega’s 17th appearance for City this season.
Leaving the stadium with his arm in a sling, Ederson’s condition has manager Pep Guardiola worried. “Ed’s injured, and the extent of it is unclear,” Guardiola told Sky Sports after the match. “It doesn’t look promising, but we’ll know more tomorrow.”
This injury comes at a crucial time for City, who have four crucial Premier League matches remaining alongside the FA Cup final against Manchester United scheduled for May 25th.
