1 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured in Crash Near Sun City Center: FHP

SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. (Spot on Florida) — One person is dead and another is in critical condition following a crash in Hillsborough County on Friday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. on southbound Interstate 75 near Exit 241 (Sun City Center). FHP said a 2005 Honda Civic was traveling southbound when it veered off the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, a 35-year-old Tampa man, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, a 27-year-old Tampa woman, was transported to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition. The cause of the crash is under investigation by FHP.

– One person is dead and another seriously injured following a crash near Sun City Center on Thursday morning. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 2004 Nissan Altima and a 2003 Ford Expedition collided at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and Moccasin Wallow Road around 7:15 a.m. The driver of the Nissan, a 62-year-old Ruskin woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the Nissan, a 17-year-old girl from Wimauma, was flown to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford, a 32-year-old Riverview man, was not injured. Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash.
